The 20th Anniversary of Duran Duran brought forth some reflection from the band, who are as proud of this record now as they were in 1993 when it came out. A seminal release in the Duran Duran catalog, Simon, John, Nick, Warren and friends reflect on what the album meant to them. Simon le bon: Twenty years has gone by since we released The Wedding Album. We were standing on the edge of a technological revolution. For the first time in our careers we recorded directly on to a hard drive. I began putting finished lyrics into a handheld computer – a PSION Organiser to be precise – this so that I’d be able to print them up to sing in the studio, when it came time for the vox to go down. You cannot overlook the contribution to, and the influence exercised within the project by John Jones, who engineered and co-produced the work with Nick, John, Warren & myself.
An all grown-up Duran Duran compared to their work in the 80's. I find it fits into the 90's quite nicely. Everything on this album is memorable and truly classic. Ordinary World" and "Come Undone," soft ballads from the heart that are just unforgettable. It's easy to see how these songs became so popular and remain enjoyable after all these years. Filling voids in my Duran Duran digital collection, I picked up this CD to replace the casette I lost long ago. Defitinilye some memorable tunes on the CD. A must for anyone that understands that Duran has been putting out great music even AFTER 1985!
Duran Duran was certified platinum (a shipment of one million units) by the RIAA in June 1985. Duran Duran was re-released in the US on 25 April 1983, after the success of their second album Rio in America gave the band another chance to market their first album there. Most notably, the then-current Duran Duran single, "Is There Something I Should Know?" was added to the album's track listing. The album also featured updated cover art designed by Malcolm Garrett, using the newer "double. Arena (An Absurd Notion).
