Album · 2016 · 14 Songs. Though he opens with Light This Party Up, a super-catchy dose of power-pop crunch, Springfield steers his 2016 set toward modern Nashville. Songs like That One and The Best Damn Thing don’t sound very far from Keith Urban or Rascal Flatts, whose Jay DeMarcus actually helped write the jangling Down. Miss Mayhem alternates dobro-strummed verses with a post-grunge chorus, and All Hands on Deck is a sea chantey with fiddles. Springfield sings mainly about women he feels lucky, or not so lucky, to know. Rocket Science Rick Springfield.

While Rick Springfield’s seventeenth studio album might seem like quite the curveball – the highly successful melodic rocker having taken a fork on the road, by-passing hook-laden Hitstown for the dustier and darker (certainly lyrically) location of Bluesville – it’s worth remembering the noted Australian musician’s earliest playing days were in blues bands back home in O. .Check out the brand new video for Down off the new Rick Springfield album Rocket Science ! Rocket Science Tracklist. Rocket Science Q&A. More Rick Springfield albums.

Without a doubt, the name of Rick Springfield, an actor and musician not too well known, would fail to evoke an instant association in the uninitiated listener. It has less to do with the locality of said person or his lack of talent. It might be one more attribute of contemporary biases; however, this is a topic for another discussion. My bewilderment at the absence of Mr. Springfield’s wider popularity was sparked after introduction (that turned into friendship) to his latest LP, Rocket Science, which I would like to discuss here

That being said, I can't stop listening to this album. Rocket Science has some songs with a different sound, almost a country feel to the beginnings, but they are not country songs by any stretch. They are fun to listen to and to sing along with, but they also make you think.

Rick Springfield has never made the same album twice. Take a look back through his career, even as far back as his 1971 debut Beginnings, he has changed his sound continually along the way. There have been albums with a similar musical theme running through them, but never two records quite the same. Rick continues his career renaissance with Rocket Science, an album that for me completes the trilogy of releases co-written with bassist Matt Bissonette. It really does continue the sound and style encompassed in Venus and Songs, albeit with a completely new twist.

Rocket Science is the 16th studio album by rock musician Rick Springfield. Studio album by Rick Springfield. Rick Springfield chronology. Stripped Down (2015). Rocket Science (2016).
