Brion Gysin (January 19, 1916 in Taplow, Buckinghamshire, UK - July 13, 1986 in Paris, France) was a writer and painter. He is best known for his rediscovery of Tristan Tzara's cut-up technique while cutting through a newspaper upon which he was trimming some mats.
Live in London is a live album from Deep Purple. It was recorded on 22 May 1974 at Gaumont State in Kilburn by the BBC for radio broadcast, but was unreleased on vinyl until 1982. It features the Mk 3 lineup of Hughes/Lord/Paice during the tour for their album Burn. At one point during the album, keyboardist Jon Lord jokingly refers to himself as "Rick Emerson" while introducing the band.

In Autumn 1982, in Brixton, London, Brion Gysin, the eternal accomplice of William Burroughs, renewed the methods of performance by reciting texts, hastily brought together with this performance, accompanied by Slits-member, Tessa, Steve of Rip, Rig and Panic, Gile of Penguin Café Orchestra, and Ramuntcho Matta on guitar.
They recorded an album in 1986 with French musician Ramuntcho Matta, featuring Gysin singing/rapping his own texts, with performances by Lacy, Don Cherry, Elli Medeiros, Lizzy Mercier Descloux and more.
