In music, variation is a formal technique where material is repeated in an altered form. The changes may involve melody, rhythm, harmony, counterpoint, timbre, orchestration or any combination of these. Mozart's Twelve Variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman" (1785), known in the English-speaking world as "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" exemplifies a number of common variation techniques.
Album name and album artist are both obvious. If half of the tracks from the same compilation are tagged with the album "Greatest Hits" while the other half are tagged "Gratest Hits" they'll show as two albums. Correct the spelling, and ensure the tags are the same. The year tag is used to specify the year of release of the surrounding album. Therefore, for compilations, it should be the year of release of the compilation, not the song.
Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block . Start by marking and cutting the Color 1 3-1/2" x 7" strip into two 3-1/2" squares. Next mark and cut the Color 2 1-1/4" x 10" strip into two 1-1/4" x 5" rectangles. Now speed piece the half squares, by stacking the Color 1 and Color 2 3-7/8" x 19-3/8" strips right sides together and all edges aligned.

However the Album Artist field is not universally supported on iPods so other workarounds may still be required. The best approach for guest & featured artists is to put this data into the track name and make the Artist & Album Artist consistent across the tracks. This works to a certain degree, but is still very difficult, as songs have such subtle variation. So, in your opinion, is it best to utilize the "Genre" field, or is it best to forget it, giving songs a generalized genre grouping and then using the "Grouping" field to further organize? Thanks
kMDItemAuthors (Artist(s)-value is an array of strings). For the album art, you'll need to request a thumbnail image for the file from Quick Look. This isn't foolproof, but should work on most systems, as long as the Quick Look generator for audio files uses the album art if present. answered Sep 25 '10 at 21:07. Peter HoseyPeter Hosey.
