John Hammond, Jr. Biography by Richard Skelly. One of the greatest performers of traditional blues, acoustic or electric.

John Hammond (record producer). John Henry Hammond II (December 15, 1910 – July 10, 1987) was an American record producer, civil rights activist, and music critic from the 1930s to the early 1980s. In his service as a talent scout, Hammond became one of the most influential figures in 20th-century popular music.

John Hammond has been in the music business for 44 years and is respected and revered by colleagues everywhere. So it may be a surprise to hear that he has never been much of a writer – until now. His funky, gritty new record, Push Comes to Shove, contains five Hammond compositions, by far the most he has ever written for a record. You see, the typical John Hammond album has zero songs written by John Hammond. Why? Well, I wrote a bunch, when I was starting out. But the songs were all kind of corny, he said.

John Alfred Hammond, or John Parker Hammond (Trespasser canon), was the CEO and creator of Jurassic Park. He founded the company InGen and the Hammond Foundation. He had at least one daughter, two grandchildren (Tim and Lex Murphy), a sister (as Hammond's nephew has the surname of Ludlow, not Hammond) and a nephew, Peter Ludlow. Hammond was flamboyant, a born showman".
