Jim Jacobi: I was not interested in having anyone else put out the record. I wanted it to be something that was my own doing. It’s fun to create things. I have a BFA/MFA in painting. Music is audio art. I got the idea to self release the LP because Charlie Burton and Rock Therapy had self released a 45. Two hundred copies of the LP were pressed. I had to drive up (twice) to a place in Omaha called Standard Blue to get the paper covers made. Reply Notify me 2 Helpful.

This song is from the "Crap Detector . " released in 1982 The . was probably one of the more punky recordings. The song is from the 40 year anniversary CD "If only you had been paying attention", Many of the songs on the cd are references to previous releases. This is referring to "crap detectors vs parrot man".

Wow, had no idea the Crap Detectors backstory went as far back at '73, but I'll be damned if these Jim Jacobi lo-fi bedroom numbers don't ooze with the surreal charm of the 'Grim-O-Comix' era Mike Rep & Tommy Jay material on one song, and delve into a minimal Vertical Slit-esque barrage of tape loops and moog gurgles. on the next, truly schizophrenic and intriguing stuff

Jim Jacobi and the Crap Detectors were WOKE before WOKE WAS WOKE! I’ll always be a fan! I’m glad to support this band-glad I bought the cd!!! . A new song from the 40 year anniversary of the Crap detectors 1978 release "Victims of the Media" called "If only you had been paying attention" youtube. The album closes with "No Hope. Judging by the liner notes, this was Jacobi's mood during the creation of this album. But the closing song features a carnivalesque organ which (at least I choose to believe) indicates that the "show" is coming back to town. The anger at society that inspires and propels so much of Jacobi's music will not be smothered: it is smouldering and will reignite.
