Kevin Leonard's created a delightfully quirky, peppy, set of keyboards curiosa here. Hear the dissonance and tensions Keith Emerson created in Tarkus and the ELP debut release. Relive the early solo releases of Happy The Man's Kit Watkins on Automatrix. The eight pieces here to range from fast paced free-for-alls to lilting sonic sonnets recalling Peter Buffet's The Waiting. With the synth drums/ bass keeping the pace, Leonard does a great job on keyboard leads, chordal passages, and atmospheric embellishings. His compositions are straight forward but engaging.
Among them are the keyboard maestro Kevin Leonard, also known from his solo albums "Escape", "Crystal Influence", "On The Edge" and "Automatrix". I have to say that I like Kevin's solo albums better than NORTH STAR. Kevin's releases are all instrumental and more complex than NORTH STAR. In some ways this album is an improvement over the previous album by North Star, Feel The Cold. The main difference is the addition of guitarist Dave Johnson. He is a much better guitarist than singer/bassist Joe Newman, and this also seems to free Newman to play better bass lines than on the previous album. There is still a very strong Genesis influence. In face, one song, Other Side Of Same seems to be strongly reminiscent of Watcher Of The Skies (not a bad place to draw inspiration). But the best song on this album is Meltdown by the above mentioned guitarist.
The Future is the ninth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen, released in 1992. After touring successfully in support of his "comeback" album I'm Your Man (1988), Cohen took a year off to help his son Adam convalesce after a serious car accident in the West Indies left the young man in a coma for four months. Cohen also began a romantic relationship with the actress Rebecca De Mornay.
