Monk (also re-released as Wee See and The Golden Monk) is an album by jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Monk recorded for the Prestige label and performed by Monk with two quintets, one featuring Julius Watkins, Sonny Rollins, Percy Heath, and Willie Jones and one featuring Ray Copeland, Frank Foster, Curly Russell, and Art Blakey.

Monk would continue to record for Prestige until September 1954; his fruitful working relationship with Riverside would commence in July 1955.

Blue Note also issued the 10-inch album, Genius Of Modern Music Vol. 2, Blue Note LP 5009, in 1952. Thelonious Sphere Monk (/θəˈloʊniəs/, October 10, 1917 – February 17, 1982) was an American jazz pianist and composer. He had a unique improvisational style and made numerous contributions to the standard jazz repertoire, including "'Round Midnight", "Blue Monk", "Straight, No Chaser", "Ruby, My Dear", "In Walked Bud", and "Well, You Needn't".

The original 1952 10" LP was expanded to a 12" LP in 1956, and retitled Milt Jackson and the Thelonious Monk Quintet with a cover designed by Reid Miles, his first for the label.

Genius of Modern Music: Volume 2 is the name given to at least four different compilation albums by jazz pianist Thelonious Monk. Each version comprises some of Monk's recordings as a band leader for Blue Note, recorded between 1947 and 1952 (or in the case of the CDs, just 1951 and 1952). The original LP with this title was compiled in 1952. Two different CD compilations have been given this title.
