Left Hand Path is the debut studio album by Swedish death metal band Entombed, released on 4 June 1990 by Earache Records. The title of the album refers to the Left-Hand Path belief system. Guitarist Alex Hellid found the term in Anton LaVey's book The Satanic Bible. The more melodic, ambient section that comes in at 3:54 of the title track is a cover of the theme from the 1979 horror film Phantasm.

Left Hand Path is the debut studio album by Swedish Death metal band Entombed, released on June 4, 1990 by Earache Records. Entombed - Left Hand Path. The song that starts this album has a very creepy scream at the beginning to then punch us in the face with a very ominous and fast riff with very powerful drums and an astounding guitar solo

Entombed's debut, Left Hand Path is the epitome of the perfect death metal record. It's brutal, heavy, dark, and gory. Let's start with the cover art. The album cover is damn awesome. It's dark, macabre imagery perfectly foreshadows the music that's to come. The first song on Left Hand Path is its namesake, and it blew me away the first time I heard it. The song is fucking awesome. It's incredibly brutal. Bands have ripped this album off left and right for decades but some essential ingredient has always been missing. Entombed even found this out to their detriment with Clandestine, an excellent record but not quite on this one's level. No wonder they changed up their sound.

With their monumental debut album, Left Hand Path, Entombed crashed through the gates of the international death metal scene and foreshadowed the pivotal role that Scandinavia would soon play in the evolution of the then-burgeoning genre. These Swedes had earlier made ripples throughout the underground with their But Life Goes On demo (1989), as well as their prior demos as Nihilist, which had gotten them signed to Earache. Left Hand Path did more than make ripples upon its 1990 release, however - it came crashing like a tidal wave.
