A little over 2 years ago The Upbeats released their album 'De-Evolution' Part III. The concluding part of a trilogy which alludes to the duos heavier sound.

The Upbeats - The Upbeats & Noisia, Goth-Trad & Dj Kentaro - Long Shadows. 48K. 3. The Upbeats - The Upbeats & Halogenix - KRONAN. Their album ‘Beyond Reality’ released on Vision records in 2013 propelled them to the highest ranks of drum and bass globally. 2014 saw them remix Submotion Orchestra’s single, ‘Trust Lust’, for Counter Records/Ninja Tune which was widely praised inside and outside of the dnb world. In August 2015, they released a new collaborative EP, ‘Dead Limit’ with Noisia, which turned the entire scene on its head. The title track won them best track at the DNB Arena Awards and quickly became a modern classic.

The Upbeats ‎– The Upbeats. Label: LOOP Recordings Aot(ear)oa ‎– LP018. Country: New Zealand. If you've heard tracks The Upbeats (or the stuff under their alias D. Wolf & T. Snake) then you know they've got a fairly unique sound, a grinding, warbling baseline, that doesn't hit the really deep booms of Gridlok or Kryptic Minds & Leon Switch, but still carries an immense sense of power. The first track on this CD came as a surprise when I put it in, a slow, melodic guitar driven chillout. It turns out this is an honest-to-goodness album, with a beginning, middle and end, instead just a collection of their 12" releases, and it turned out great for someone such.

They broke onto the international scene with Slit/Fill Me In, released on BC Presents, but had a following in New Zealand before that, having released some 12" singles on local labels and a full album (on CD) released in that same year. Since, they've had a string of releases on established DnB labels, including Virus, Project 51 & Human.

Panic is the seventh studio album by punk rock band MxPx. It was released on June 6, 2005 internationally and a day later in the United States. Two B-sides (an unreleased track called "Arrest Me" and a live/acoustic version of "Waiting for the World to End") were released on a SideOneDummy sampler in 2005.

in my view "panic" is the overruling upbeats tune. I have heard some other good stuff from these guys but this tune stays on top.
Very nice!
Panic is a drum-funk style tune very typical of The Upbeats and Subtitles' output. It's a moody stepper with uplifting drums and carefully placed hi-hats certain to get any dancefloor moving, especially with its layout allowing a huge double drop. Solid production makes this a decent 12" from the New Zealand duo, but unfortunately the b side "Troglodyte" doesn't follow suit and ventures slightly into cheese land. A worthwhile purchase for Subtitles fans and anyone looking for a tech-step bomb.
