Brötzmann has designed most of his album covers. He taught himself to play clarinets, then saxophones; he is also known for playing the tárogató. Bennink was a partner in Schwarzwaldfahrt, an album of duets recorded outside in the Black Forest in 1977 with Bennink drumming on trees and other objects found in the woods. In 1981 Brötzmann made a radio broadcast with Frank Wright and Willem Breuker (saxes), Toshinori Kondo (trumpet), Hannes Bauer and Alan Tomlinson (trombones), Alexander von Schlippenbach (piano), Louis Moholo (drums), Harry Miller (bass). Free Jazz und Kinder (1972). Brötzmann/Van Hove/Bennink (1973). Outspan No. 2 (1974).
Tschüs (LP, Album, Ltd, RE). Cien Fuegos. referencing Tschüs, LP, FMP 0230. It has been reported online that the "true" 1st pressing has an unboxed FMP logo on the label and no date of 1975 on the sleeve and labels. Can anyone verify this? Reply Notify me Helpful.
Machine Gun is the second album by jazz saxophonist Peter Brötzmann, released on the Bro label in 1968, later reissued on the FMP label in 1971. In 1990 FMP issued the album on CD, adding two previously unreleased alternate takes.
Surely part of this approach is due to the antic nature of percussionist Han Bennink, who, whether playing his drum set or the studio floor, accordions or clarinets, rarely fails to inject wit and sly humor into the proceedings. Tschus is arranged almost as a suite of shorter works, some having a relatively straight jazz and blues nature, others edging into the investigation of pure sound as championed by groups such as AMM.
