Current 93 - Dawn album flac
Originally released in 1987 as an LP on the Maldoror label, it was reissued in 1989 on CD by Durtro. This reissue mistakenly contained an alternate version of "Great Black Time". In 2002, the album was again reissued on CD, containing both the alternate and the original LP version of "Great Black Time"
Complete your 93 Current 93 collection. The second side of the album is a wholly different affair. Returning to the 'Maldoror is Dead' theme, 'Maldoror Er Daudur' is in fact the earliest incarnation of the track, originally entitled 'Maldoror Est Mort' on a split with Nurse With Wound from 1983. It is this version that was later remixed to form the brilliant 'Ach Golgotha' on Nature Unveiled. Without that studio treatment, the piece sounds half-finished and is largely unnecessary

On the whole, then, an album which is not incompetent but not excellent. It was high time for Current 93 to move on - and David Tibet evidently recognised that, because after this they did just that. If you love early Current 93's ambient style, I'd say Dawn is worth getting at some point, but between Nature Unveiled, Bar Maldoror and In Menstrual Night it's probably the weakest of the four. Dogs Blood Rising I count separately since it doesn't follow the "two sidelong pieces" formula

Current 93 are a British experimental music group, working since the early 1980s in folk-based musical forms. The band was founded in 1982 by David Tibet (né David Michael Bunting, renamed 'Tibet' by Genesis P-Orridge some time prior to forming the group). Tibet has been the only constant member in the group, though Steven Stapleton (of Nurse with Wound) has appeared on nearly every Current 93 release. Michael Cashmore has also been a constant contributor since Thunder Perfect Mind
