SHANGO (Artist) Format: Vinyl. This is a great album that I have owned since the 70's. A little known band, Afro-Latin rock. You can hear influences by Santana y perhaps Barrabas from Spain. Trust me, there is not a bad song in this album. I wonder whatever happened to this band. Maybe someone can shed some light on them. I would love to see this album on CD format. 5 people found this helpful.

Oliver Ray – guitar, farfisa, art direction, design. Tony Shanahan – bass, keyboards, hammond organ, back vocals. Additional personnel.

Shango was an American rock quartet that recorded in 1969 and 1970. They are best remembered for their only Hot 100 chart appearance with the song "Day After Day (It's Slippin' Away)". The band debuted as Renaissance in 1968, with a one-shot single "The Hi-Way Song" on GNP Crescendo, which did not chart. Shortly thereafter, they changed their name to Shango.
